Confederate naval officer. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Daniel D. Colcock was the son of Richard Woodward Colcock (1806-1856) and the nephew of William Ferguson Colcock (1804-1889). In 1864, with the rank of passed midshipman, Daniel D. Colcock was ordered to Charleston harbor and assigned to the flagship Charleston.
